Colorful world in photography: Red.

The following words are synonymous with red and represent various shades of the color red: rose, ruby, scarlet, vermillion, carmine, burgundy, rouge, rust, tomato…

We can associate the color red in nature with sunset, sunrise, fall season (autumn red leaves), flame, flowers such as roses, poppies, fruits such as red apples, strawberries, cherries, vegetables such as tomatoes, red peppers, red cabbage.

The color red arouses associations with abstract concepts with positive meaning (passion, love, action, energy, speed, fun, strength, courage) and with negative meaning (war, danger, anger, aggression, violence).

There are many set expressions with the word “red” such as “to catch somebody red-handed” (to catch a person doing something illegal or wrong), “in the red” (losing money), “a red letter day” (a memorably important or happy day), “the red planet” (the name for Mars due the color of its surface).

I can agree with Bill Blass who said that “Red is the ultimate cure for sadness”. You can create your “red period” in your photography to cure your sadness.

Thank you for reading!
I would like to know what is your favorite color in photography.
