Photo Essay: The Store Windows in Prague.

A store window in Prague.

Shopping became an important cultural activity nowadays. You find hundreds of shopping malls, supermarkets, mini markets and small shops in Prague.

The windows displays with interesting elements try to produce a lasting effect on feelings or senses and to attract customers to the store.

How do you like this display with "Coffee with Kafka"?
You can get a lot of pleasure from wandering around stores, enjoying the creativity of the windows displays. Surely you can enter the store and buy something.
So what you can buy in Prague that is typical for Czech (except good beer)?

You can buy some original Czech souvenirs and products of local craftsmen and designers: amazing Czech (Bohemian) crystal, glassware and ceramics, the beautiful handmade glass figures of all colors and sizes. Czech crystal and glassware are widely known and acclaimed.
In the area around the Old Town Square you can find many stores with windows filled with perfect crystal and colorful glassware both functional and decorative.
Czech glassware.

Do you know that the Czech Republic produces really nice silver jewelry, silver with semiprecious stones, amber, Czech garnet and also handmade Czech bohemian glass jewelry: art necklaces, earrings, bracelets, chains, etc. It is not cheap, but it is worth to pay for this sparkling beauty. Don't rush with buying, compare the prices first! Surely you’ll be able to find shops with the prices which are reasonable enough to purchase jewelry as gifts.
Really nice Czech jewelry will amaze you.

A figure of Krteček aka Baby Mole would be the best gift for kids. Krteček was created by Czech animator Zdenek Miler. The author wanted the cartoon to be understood in every country of the world and used his daughter’s voice for short exclamations to express the mole’s feelings.
Krteček - the famous Czech cartoon character.

Maybe you will feel like a child again when you see the Wicked Witch standing outside the door of the tiny shop.

This shop is full of Puppets and Marionettes of every size you can imagine, you won't be able to make up your mind which to buy.
Handmade Czech Puppets and Marionettes are the perfect Czech souvenirs.

You might want to know what I bought in Prague. Some original paintings, books about Prague, a silk scarf, garnet earrings were Czech purchase of mine :) More importantly I took many photographs there :)
